Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
and if in the constrcution industry , likewise , its the high income areas , there will ne no language barrier , where the jobs go to Romanians etc. But the Spanish would take on qualified UK professionals all day long and money is no problem for those high income areas.

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
J Riddle , without Zoltaneering , that is why I chose Madrid , as much as there is an economic crisis in Spain , no declared government and it seems a right mess. In reality Madrid is the heartbeat , bang in the middle of the country so no seaside etc etc , but it is where all the mulitnationals and big companies are based, where the money is. A native English person can earn easily up to 2500€ a month without knowing any Spanish , teaching english as a foreign language. Again wihtout Zoltaneering , in the high income areas for example La Finca Pozeulo , next to where I am based, where nearly the whole Real Madrid squad live (40 million pound homes) , you tend to find most people have a good level of English.
Also Costas hammer, I wasnt being snobby about Marbella or the Costas , my previous job in London worked with alot of snooty plastic motherfuckers , and although never lived on the costas , in younger years on Holiday there * which it is ok for , i only saw plastic people , russians , albanians , or retired ex pats. For money and opportunities Madrid , all day or Barcelona , for outstanding beauty and peace and economical living with beaches ,Galicia . In my humble opinion. For holidays , instead of Marbella or that part of the costas , Cadiz and Granada are great for holidays with stunning beaches , More Spanish and less plastic people.

COYI - Dreaming for the day West ham play at Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions league. I am a realist and know this dream may take a couple of years.

ALFS - CHECK INBOX . THANKS

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
Yep Peckham has a point about the costas...here in Marbella it's pretty much as he says full of plastic!!...don't get me wrong it could be worse..however if i had the chance to start again over as i did in 2004 i would have moved to Barcelona not here!...own a property here so no chance of selling it for what i paid so sought of stuck at a the mo!!

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
Thanks for all this advice, it really is a help.

Peckham, I'm a script writer by profession, and though I've sold a few movie scripts in my time (for very decent sums of money), none so far have been made. Saying that, I'm known and fairly well respected within the industry, so if you need any help or advice please feel free to drop me a WHO mail.

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
Spain is great for a holiday or to retire. Working there and earning decent money from their economy is not so easy unless you have a job lined up before you go. Difficult if you don't speak the lingo. Although having said that I knew a builder in Spain who made a decent living always busy doing jobs for expats, although he was a very good multi tradesman.

Working from a laptop dealing the markets back home or as a writer publishing your works back in the UK or running a website you are not directly dealing with their economy, but with the U K economy from a distance which is the best way.

Briano
the reason we won. was that we would turn up between 12 and 4, when their armada was all having a siesta.

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
Yes Alfs , Madrid. Spent 5 years here writing a Novel and now a screen play , as a hobbie , but confident I will get published.

Came here , to this town , on the suburbs of Madrid surrounded by snow capped mountains , 3 days , it took and made my mind up to settle and stay here.

I find the quality of life , first class. I chose Madrid because the lifestyle of the Costa del Crime , and in general the costas , I saw too many oft he kind of plastic cunts I had had enough of in London.

Madrid is great, blesssed to do some work for Real Madrid. 3 course meal with a beer or glass of wine 4 quid about 6/7 euros. In the wealthiest town in Spain. Surrreal. Everyone here is cako , yet humble.

But its an inspiring country and a shame most English people stick to the costa del sol or Benidorm.

So far La Coruna and Galicia is the nuts for me. 121 beaches , 100 of them blue flag. Asturias , stunning mountains.

To the south Granada , Cordoba , Sevilla, SIMPLY Beautiful.

Spain has it all. Travelled the world with the Army , worked Nightlife in London for years and now I have found Nirvana and would not swap living here for anywhere else.

Sat here now , beautiful sunset , under mountains , having an ice cold beer for a euro , with a free large tapas of tortilla and patata bravas. Thats my dinner sorted.

Alf if ever want to visit Madrid and do some writing or seek some inspiration feel free to inbox me.

COYI.

I was renting for a one bed, 35 square meters, with balcony over-looking a golf course (which makes the view very green) for 250 euros a month. Electric costs about 65 per month, water 35 per month.

Re: Does any one her live in Spain?
Alfs, I live on the Costa Blanca 6-7 months of the year. Cheap, sunny and lots of bars, pubs, kebab shops, curry houses etc.
My Internet connection is slowish, 10mb/s €25 per month.
Veg from the local market is cheap 'n' ugly but very fresh. 7kgs of oranges for €3
Pint of lager €2, glass of wine €1.50
....it might not suit everyone but I like it, even if most of the expats are older than me (I'm 57).
I've even found a good West Ham pub with some old school fans too.
Good luck and if you get fed up you can always move on.

I agree Holy. At least Sub was man enough to hold up his hands and apologise. Most simply hide behind their keyboards as they dish out the vitriol.

I'd like to see your comment 'pinned' elsewhere on here, very well put. It could apply to dozens of people on loads of threads.

Fair enough, Sub. Apology accepted. I'd over indulged on the local brew when I wrote that and was probably being a little precious.

Nursey, I don't have your mobile number so can't text you, but let me be the first to wish you a Happy Christmas!

I moved to London in 1980. It was quite a shit hole. Its now probably my favourite city on Earth.
I love travelling and I love going to the country and the seaside but the City is where I like to live.

'I dread to think what England will be like to live in ten years time.'

I've been hearing and reading that line for 30 years. To be honest, I think it's a better place now than it was in the 90's
